Yin & Yang

Call it Divine Intervention.

In Hebrew, we coined the terms “Hashgacha Pratis” nothing is happenstance; another expression is “Refuah Lifnei Hamaka” there is a remedy before the affliction and the concept of Hester Panim, everything is orchestrated through the concealed hand of Hashem. There is Yin & Yang (Yin is the dark swirl, Yang is the white swirl).

The sunbeam is Yang; the shadows are Yin. The pitch is Yang. The catch is Yin, The Yang starts an action, and the Yin receives it. I’m not looking to approach this from a Daoist view; I don’t necessarily believe in everything Yin & Yang represents, but when I think of “Vezurach Hashemesh Uva Hashemesh,” the imagery of Yin & Yang seems apropos. To quote my grandmother, “nothing is ever all good or all bad,” there is always a bit of both intermingled within. The story is never black and white, grey isn’t a cop-out color; Grey is silver and timeless.

Having a low point, on a low day of a low week, is just that—a lower point. But things revolve. There is a higher altitude, and the cycle continues. You know those feelings that are just so good? When expectations have been surpassed. This is a peak point, and it only feels so special maybe by default of its transience. This high vibe isn’t here to stay, so we embrace it and cultivate it.

Thank you to those people who come back with good news, because it’s nice to hear how the cycle revolves. A friend who was feeling stifled in her basement apartment just told me they gave a down payment on a house, was it only two months ago a gf and I were having one of our #singleasapringle late-night convo’s? Now she has a wedding to plan and MissMBA, how is the job search going? Oh, Director of…this is a good story.
