Go With Your Gut
Go With Your Gut
Decision making based on gut instinct is never easy; it’s like a steaming latte topped with dusty espresso. The first few sips are bitter and hot; leaving you uncomfortable and hesitant to continue further, but then you let the mug rest, and cool. When you take another sip, the bitter aftertaste has left a mocha haze mingled with creamy milk…in the rich warmth you find solace in your decision.
Okay, so now that we compartmentalized gut decision making with something light and frothy, let’s get real. Deciding because you can FEEL in hindsight this won’t be a good opportunity; however, you can’t put your finger on the actual why is HARD.
Everyone has that internal compass that gives direction. Mines is one that doesn’t allow me to SLEEP; she is so loud and all-consuming, I can’t NOT succumb. (Naturally, I refer to my intrinsic compass as female, only a woman can drive a decision when nothing was weighing.)
There’s a reason that the antidote to promote healthy gut health is to consume a creamy cloud of lactobacillus acidophilus…aka yogurt. It’s like Hashem knows that when you have a gut-wrenching decision on the table, the best thing to do other than reach for your favorite pint (anything with caramel :) is to indulge in ice creams “better for you” third cousin, yogurt.
But basing a decision on gut is never going to be easy; everyone is scared of making the wrong move, missing “the boat,” a gut decision can be a catch 22. You have comfort in your choice, but do you have clarity in the outcome? This is where some gut health inducing pro-biotics come to play.
2018 was a big year. At the end of the day decisions all come down to priorities, and where you choose to hang your integrity hat.
“ I’ve learned that נאמנות
to oneself has to be at the forefront.”
Be it with work, personal, friend relationships- be true to yourself, and don’t be afraid to have a sincere heart to heart with yours truly (no not me! #aintnobodygottimeforthat :)
Figure out what’s important to you and hone in, because it exists. Sometimes you have to do the job Goldilocks, or meet a few frogs before prince charming, but once you’ve done your “real life” foxtrot-tango, it settles; the steps get easier and now we Waltz.
